ReWrite: An International Literary Collaboration Begins in Aalborg
26. 03. 2025
ReWrite will connect six young writers from the three cities: Aalborg, Aarhus, and Manchester. The following six young writers, based in the three cities, is forming the creative basis for ReWrite:
Asta Birkler (Aarhus)
My name is Asta, I am 22 years old, and I study Scandinavian Languages and Literature at Aarhus University. I love when stories crawl under my skin, provoke me, and spark recognition. I love sentences that deliver truths like a wet dishcloth in the face. And I love discussing literature and immersing myself in even the tiniest linguistic details.
Loc-An Thi Nguyen (Aarhus)
Loc-An is 25 and was born and raised in Aarhus to Vietnamese parents. She has loved literature for as long as she can remember, which in 2019 motivated her to study English in Aarhus University. She tends to gravitate towards magical realism and books that explore complicated family dynamics and belonging.
Johanne Bisgaard (Aalborg)
I come from North Jutland and have a master’s degree in Comparative Literature from Aarhus University. To me, literature is a place to meet, feel and understand. I am especially fond of its ability to pinpoint and grasp the complexities of the world. In this way, my relationship with literature is characterized by both creativity and the more direct and analytic approach from academia.
Cody Sanders (Aalborg)
I have always had a great passion for literature and love immersing myself in theatrical works. To me, literature is not just entertainment but a way to understand the world and human nature. I look forward to developing my skills and sharing this interest with others throughout the program.
Literature is hard not to find inspiring. It ignites your imagination, expands your vocabulary, and strengthens your patience and understanding of the world, the people around you, and the many perspectives that exist. Sharing a good story with others is probably also the root of my great love for theatre.

Victor Andersen (Aalborg) [is only participating in Aalborg]
I'm a 25-year-old guy, born and raised in Aalborg, and my passion for literature actually started during the COVID pandemic when my mother lent me the book A Moveable Feast by Hemingway. Since then, I've been reading and reading and reading.
Although it began as a way to pass the time, it has grown into my number one passion - not just as a hobby, but as something that has had a direct impact on both the theoretical and personal paths I've taken within my field as a psychologist and everything that entails. As one would say in the world of psychology, literature has completely taken over both my personal and professional habitus, and that's why I dream of improving my own ability to produce literature.
I would say I have a rather eclectic taste, but I'm definitely inspired by genres like magical realism and horror, as they allow for a fusion between reality and the ethereal - something I also strive to achieve in my own works. I am however new to the world of producing literature on my own, and thus I am happy to be able to participate in this course which hopefully will help me become a better writer, and meet other like minded people.
Each city will host a four-day workshop leading up to its respective literary festival, where participants will receive mentorship from established authors and translators.
ReWrite begins in Aalborg with the first workshop and culminates in a special live performance at Ordkraft Literature Festival on Thursday, April 3, 2025, from 14:20 to 15:00 at The Generator Scene. This event will showcase the new works created during the program and provide a platform for the young writers share their work with the public.
Admission is free - but if you want to be sure to get a seat, please book a ticket here: https://ord-kraft.dk/program/rewrite/
The Aalborg teachers are the two writers Anne-Mari Borchert and Adam Drewes.
Following Aalborg, ReWrite will continue in Aarhus in June and in Manchester in October, strengthening international literary ties and fostering fresh creative expression across borders.
